Wednesday 25th February 2pm in Sheriff Hutton Village Hall

Malcolm Brooke – “Berlin - A Tale of Two Cities“

The fall of the wall in 1989 was part of a remarkable series of events which, less than one year later, saw the reunification of Germany. The presentation explains why the post-war division of Germany and the special status of Berlin caused so many problems for the East German authorities. The 'Fall of the Wall' needs to be viewed in connection with the development of the inner German Border which divided the country into the West and the East. Malcolm lived in Germany (including Berlin) during these monumental times and has travelled extensively along the length of these borders both before and after reunification.

Entrance: Members free, Visitors £3, includes refreshments.
