HISTORY GROUP

SHERIFF HUTTON HISTORY GROUP

Sheriff Hutton played an important part in medieval history and has a growing collection of documents and photographs about the changes in the village through the 20th century.

Sheriff Hutton History Group meets regularly in the Village Hall to look through the collection and piece together a picture of the development of our village from the mid-19th Century to the present day. We hold open monthly meetings and occasional coffee mornings where villagers can bring documents and photographs to add to the archive.

We also have visits from speakers from outside the village to talk about the illustrious past of Sheriff Hutton, the work of other local history groups and ways to study local and family history.

Our History Group has attracted interest from people in the village and from outside (as far as Australia); many of these have added to our collection which is housed in a new Archive Room at the Village Hall (paid for by generous donations and fundraising events).

To join the Group, or for more information, contact Meg Ashbridge (telephone 07732008557) or e-mail Peter Brown
